Privacy Policy

Vantaverse Community (community.vantaverse.in) is run by Vantaverse (vantaverse.in). This page explains what we collect about you, why, and the choices you have. It is written to follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address and a password (stored only as a salted Argon2id hash; we cannot read it).
• Profile details you choose to give: username, headline, bio, city, skills, links, occupation, company or college, interests, the reason you joined, and an optional mobile number.
• Device and network details, collected automatically: IP address, browser, operating system, device type, approximate country or city (from the IP address), and the time of each sign-up and sign-in, including failed attempts.
• How you found us: the website that referred you, the first page you landed on, and campaign tags in the link (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign), kept in a first-party cookie for 60 days.
• Activity: events you register for or show interest in, content you publish, comments, likes, follows and messages, plus page views of public content (which page, device class, country and, if signed in, your account).

Why we collect it

• To run your account, sign you in, verify your email and keep it secure (login history lets us spot account takeover and abuse).
• To run events: confirm your registration, send joining details and reminders, and understand attendance.
• To improve the community: see which topics and events people want, and where members come from.
• To email you about new events and updates, only if you ticked that box. You can stop them any time by replying to any of our emails and asking us to.

Who sees it

Your public profile (name, username, headline, bio, skills, links) is visible to everyone unless you make it private. Your email, phone, device and network details are visible only to the Vantaverse team. Event organisers and sponsors never receive your personal details unless you agree to that for a specific event. We do not sell personal data.

We use service providers to run the site: hosting and database, email delivery, image delivery (Cloudinary), and payment processing (Stripe) when paid events are switched on. They process data only on our instructions.

Cookies

We use a sign-in session cookie (needed to keep you logged in) and the attribution cookie described above. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

How long we keep it

Account and profile data is kept while your account exists. Login history and analytics events are kept for up to 12 months. If you ask us to delete your account we delete or anonymise your personal data, except records we must keep by law.

Your rights

You can access, correct or delete your data, withdraw consent, and nominate someone to act for you. Edit most details in settings. For anything else, including deletion, reply to any email we send you or contact us through vantaverse.in and we will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

The community is for people aged 18 and over. If you are younger, please do not sign up.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell members by email.
